An Epiphany

A famous man once said, ‘No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he is not the same Man’. Some say love people, not things, for things are temporary. I used to say, love things and not people, for people do leave but things can always be brought back.

But I don’t think so anymore. Let me write on it(don’t really know if it is a poem).

In life’s river of mine,
stepped once a sweet thing.
Thus, the river’s not the same,
I am not the same.

Like an angel’s touch,
everything lit up, fireworks.
like a wave clearing the shore,
I am all washed up,
turning into serene soul.

All one could see in me,
is her stature, a beauty.
I, a momentary mirror, confess
alas! it’s just a reflection.

Some touch you, some soothe you.
some love you, some turn you.
In the end, everyone leaves you.

Why not build a dam, I thought,
to stay with her, to embrace her?
What could stop, eh, what ought,
restless emotions, built-up pressure?

Truth shall be faced, you see,
A thing of love with a will of its own,
seldom ceases, even if you moan.

Water inflow is water after all.
Flow it must, flow it will.
To stay and feel, and to stall
is death itself, a crime of self.

So I shall stop no more,
For flow is eternal and flow I shall.
The beauty of love struck me once and for all.
This river of mine is lucky in all.

Love everything that comes your way,
for tomorrow you are not the same, life is not the same.

Love everything that comes your way,
for nothing stays, not even your own self.

Love everything that comes your way,
for everything changes, everything goes its own way.

Love everything that comes your way,
for what remains is that love, love in those moments, love in such experiences,
love in those impressions, love in those lessons.

Love everything that comes your way,
for that love made you what you are, in a way.

I think those words are clear enough. But let me rephrase them. In life, we see people, things come your way. Some get to be so important, you will feel that you can’t live without them. I think in life it’s not enough to learn how to live with whatever comes your way, it’s also important to learn to live when that person or thing goes away. Cherish what comes and regret losing none. They come and go, but experiences stay. Whatever that comes sure does have its own place. So love them such, and leave them be.

With Love,
A River.

(P.S The image above has a quote too: ‘If good things lasted forever, would we appreciate how precious they are?’. Think about it)
